We Moved! Crystal Basin 2.0

Well, here we are. April 2026. We hope and trust you are well.

It’s a time of transition at Crystal Basin. We ended our run at our ancestral home on 3/31 and are arranging a great space for winemaking and hospitality at our new digs in Placerville .

Now comes a revamp/revisit/rewiring of our business –
Crystal Basin 2.0 !

Our new location is very near to both DMV and Home Depot in Placerville. There are some amazing upgrades about our new space that you will enjoy when you visit:

Our parking lot will not destroy the springs on your car.
Our tasting room will feature a limited amount of comfortable seating.
There will be snacks and soft drinks available for purchase.
There are 3 less stoplights & 1 less roundabout required to visit the winery.
No Snow!
No Fire Evacuations!

There will be some things that will be comforting and familiar:

Our talented and knowledgeable staff will remain the same (with a couple of added gray hairs).
We will still feature barrel room tastings of new vintages.
We’ll continue to feature Really Good Wines at Great Prices.

You can pick up your wine at our Folsom location, during our normal operating hours. However, there will be a bit of a pause in wine tasting at our new Placerville location whilst we get all of our licenses and permits and approvals, and, and, and… But know that we’ll come back in force! (Mid-April is our current estimate).

I can’t say enough about the efforts of KZ (visible) and Erich, Marshall and Todd (mostly invisible) in getting all the complexities of our move handled. CBC has always been about executing to a plan and we’ve shown again that our team excels at getting it done. Kudos to all.

We encourage you to plan to visit our new location and stay tuned as we pull the pieces together to get to our goal of providing the best tasting and hospitality experience in our region.

Things are beginning to come into focus!

Hello to all our Friends and Fans! We thought it would be good to speak up on what things are looking like at the “Almost” Point in our move.

We appreciate all the feedback we’ve received these last few weeks. We’re seeing a wave of positive reactions – the most common being – “You are going to be closer to my house!”.

NOT NEWS: We have a LOT of stuff. We rented a Big Ol’ Truck. The bulky stuff got moved last week. We also moved wine cases and barrels all last week week.

Oysterfest at Crystal Basin Cellars | Wine Tasting in Placerville

Oysterfest was an amazing day. The stunning weather matched Oyster teamwork and the freshness of the oysters! It certainly was a fun and well attended last bash at our Carson Road address. Thanks to all who attended!

But Trust Us – we’re NOT going away. The carrying costs of owning the property on Carson Road were crushing us. We think the move, after a BUNCH of work, will be a Very Good Thing for the Winery, our Customers and our Sanity.

Crystal Basin Cellars Announces Relocation to Better Serve Customers, Create Ease of Access and Ensure Long-Term Sustainability
Camino, CA — February 18, 2026 — Crystal Basin Cellars, a beloved local winery known for its commitment to award-winning wines and exceptional customer experiences, today announced it will be relocating its operations to a new facility at 2850 Cold Springs Road in Placerville, with a starting date for tasting of April 1st, 2026.

The move comes as part of a strategic decision to reduce operating costs, improve accessibility for customers, and ensure the winery can continue delivering its high level of service and product excellence for years to come.

“Our goal has always been to provide outstanding wines from the El Dorado region and to create inviting and memorable experiences for our patrons,” said Mike Owen, Founder and El Jefe. “With ever-increasing operational costs and the closure of Highway 50 access affecting customer traffic, relocating allows us to operate more efficiently while making it easier for guests to visit us.”
Crystal Basin Cellars’ new location offers:

Improved and convenient customer access
Greater visibility and ease of parking
A welcoming tasting environment
Continued production of the winery’s portfolio of wines

The decision was influenced in part by recent freeway access closure near their existing Camino location, which has created visibility and access challenges for customer visits to the winery. By moving to a more accessible site, Crystal Basin aims to remove access barriers and enhance their overall guest experience.

While the address is changing, the winery’s dedication to craftsmanship, community, and hospitality remains the same. Customers can expect the same award-winning wines, knowledgeable staff, and welcoming atmosphere they have come to enjoy. Crystal Basin’s lively events will continue, including the winery’s popular barrel tasting program. The company’s Folsom location, Crystal Basin Station, will continue to operate and be open for customers Thursday through Monday each week.

A grand reopening celebration at the Cold Springs location is planned for June 6th with details to be announced soon.

Just as winter hits – we all dream about vacations!

The clouds close in and the chill hits hard.
But our imaginations run wild!

For those wanting an Amazing Adventure in 5 countries behind the old Iron Curtain, we are hosting our 2027 river cruise in April on the Danube River from Budapest Hungary to Belgrade Serbia. There is much to explore and much to learn exploring these ancient Eastern European countries. The Danube is the largest river in Europe and we are very excited about this (comfortable) voyage of exploration with our cruise partners Amawaterways.
